BIRTH James was born in 1643/4[1] Perhaps he was born in Hampton, Rockingham co., NH; which would possibly link him with the New Hampshire Saunders family from the Isle of Shoals.
DEATH He died in Haverhill, Essex co., MA on 9 December 1721; he was 78[2].
MARRIAGE #1 On 14 January 1669 when James was 26, he first married Sarah PAGE, in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[1,3,4,5,6,7]. Sarah died on 23 March 1685/6 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[2].

CHILDREN 2. i. James1 SAUNDERS James1 was born on 30 May 1671 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA and his birth is recorded under "Sanders"[11]. He died there on 13 June 1671[2].

4. iii. Sarah SAUNDERS Sarah was born on 7 August 1674 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA and her birth is recorded under "Sanders"[11]. On 17 March 1695/6 when Sarah was 20, she married Jonathan EATTON, in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[3].
5. iv. Elizabeth1 SAUNDERS Elizabeth1 was born on 28 November 1676 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA and her birth is recorded under "Sanders"[17]. She died there on 15 February 1676 [sic] [18].
6. v. James2 SAUNDERS James2 was born on 24 April 1679 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA and his birth is recorded under "Sanders"[11]. On 22 June 1699 when James2 was 20, he married Elizabeth WHITTIER, in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[1,3,6,7,19].
7. vi. [unnamed child] SAUNDERS This child was stillborn on 17 March 1680/1 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[2,20].
8. vii. Avery1 SAUNDERS Avery1 was born on 22 May 1682 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA with his birth recorded under "Sanders"[17]. He died there on 15 July 1683; he was 1[18].
9. viii. Avery2 SAUNDERS Avery2 was born on 3 August 1683 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA and his birth is recorded under "Sanders"[17]. Before 1710 when Avery2 was 26, he married Abigaill GREEN, in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[21].

MARRIAGE #2 On 20 October 1687 when James was 44, he second married Hannah TEWKSBURY, in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[1,3,6,8,9,10]. Hannah died on 24 September 1746 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[2].

CHILDREN 10. i. Henry SAUNDERS Henry was born on 6 August 1688 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[11]. Before 1712 when Henry was 23, he married Mary MITCHELL, in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[3].
11. ii. Jacob SAUNDERS Jacob was born on 6 November 1689 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[11] and died that same day[2].
12. iii. [unnamed child] SAUNDERS This child was born in September 1691 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[20] and died there on 17 October 1691[2]. Despite living for at least two weeks, there is no mention of this child's name or gender.
13. iv. Elizabeth2 SAUNDERS Elizabeth2 was born on 5 April 1695 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[17] and died there on 1 May 1695[18].
14. v. Judith SAUNDERS Judith was born on 17 June 1696 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[11]. On 7 April 1720 when Judith was 23, she married Eleazer CROCKER, in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[3].
15. vi. Nathaniel SAUNDERS Nathaniel was born on 27 December 1700 in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[11]. On 18 December 1723 when Nathaniel was 22, he married Mary BIXBY, in Haverhill, Essex co., MA[3].
